1959 17-foot Chris Craft Sportsman

The following is our playlist of videos for our 1959 17′ Chris Craft Sportsman preservation. Click on each to view the video, or the title or text below to watch and read detailed write-up on the video.

We have installed upwards of ten True 5200 Bottoms on these seventeen-foot Chris-Craft Sportsman Utilities.
This one’s inner plywood skin is severely oil- and grease-soaked from the helm station to the transom, so we very likely must replace it.
At least until we have her flipped and her bottom planking removed, most of the latter presents as in still-serviceable condition.
My major concern is that the oil and grease in the bilge has migrated through the seams in the plywood and soaked the planking. In that event, and because the 5200 cannot adhere to oil-soaked wood, we will be fabricating planking anew.
We will keep you in the loop once we flip and begin releasing her bottom.
